Bring your lawn blanket or chairs for a viewing of the partial annular eclipse on the Library lawn.
Eclipse glasses* will be handed out, first-come, first-served, to participants. Glasses may be limited to one or two per family in order to ensure enough to go around.
Weather-permitting, the start time of the partial phase will begin at approximately 10:23 when the Sun is in the southeastern sky. For the best view of the eclipse, we recommend participants find a spot on the South lawn. The Library will begin distributing glasses outside the South entrance when it opens at 11 a.m. Do not look directly at any phase of the eclipse until you have received your glasses. Participants are welcome to bring their own viewing glasses or pinhole viewers.
During the eclipse, we'll also have activities outside the South entrance for adults and children, such as eclipse drawing and making UV bracelets!
In the case of bad weather or a cloudy day, the Library will show the livestream from NASA and move the activities indoors.
*Eclipse glasses provided by the Library meet the ISO 12312-2 safety standard for safe eclipse viewing.
