Join us on Sunday, February 1 from 2-4 p.m. for the opening reception of the Green Acres iNaturalist Pollinator Photography Exhibit. Meet photographers whose work is showcased in the exhibit, learn about the benefits of native plants for pollinators and our ecosystem, and enjoy cookies and punch! Representatives from the Elm Fork Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists, plus additional organizations supporting this exhibit, will be on hand to welcome you and answer questions.
The Green Acres iNaturalist Pollinator Photography Exhibit features iNaturalist photographs taken at Green Acres Farm Memorial Park, right here in Flower Mound. The popular iNaturalist app is used to identify plants and animals, and its community has over a million members worldwide. Photographs will be on display at the Flower Mound Public Library from February 1-March 15, along with information about the Texas Master Naturalists and area partner organizations, iNaturalist, and a history of the Green Acres site. Visit the Library to tour the exhibit and vote for your favorite photograph, then join us on Tuesday, March 10 at 7 p.m. for the presentation "Nurturing a Pollinator Habitat" to learn how to enhance your garden's beauty and support local wildlife.
The Elm Fork Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists is a recipient of an H-E-B Pollinator for Texas Grant, and this exhibit is presented in conjunction with that award, as part of the chapter's Green Acres is the place to BEE initiative. The purpose of the Green Acres is the Place to Bee is to restore a biodiverse native ecosystem accessible to the public for habitat conservation and awareness. Included in the initiative will be the addition of native plants and seeds to attract pollinators, and a new rainwater collection system that will provide water for pollinators, a vital addition to Green Acres, which has no natural water source.
