Community Program RoomEnjoy learning about environmentalism through nature, story, & hands-on skills practice!
Plant care isn’t only for spring- fall means vital garden preparation & cool-season growing! This season will focus on preparing the inaugural Library Learning Garden for future harvest success!
Participants will learn about soil, plants, local habitats, & native gardening through botany activities and guided hands-on gardening skill lessons. Sessions consist of a story read aloud, nature lesson, ongoing experimental observations, and lots of hands-on skills practice. This fall we'll focus on learning key steps for creating raised bed sustainable gardens, emphasizing comprehensive progress through the season.
Weather permitting, sessions will occur in the youth area outdoor reading patio. In case of poor weather (including excessive heat/cold), sessions will take place in south entrance lobby.
Specifically designed for children ages 5-10, though families are welcome!
